Kara mentors and trains the Personal Injury paralegals at Geoff McDonald and Associates to ensure they are set up for success. For the past five years, she has served on the Firm’s Management Committee, representing the Personal Injury support section. Kara has worked diligently to build a strong team of paralegals to support our dedicated attorneys.

Kara is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Richmond Paralegal Association. She formerly served two terms as the President of the Roanoke Valley Paralegal Association (“RVPA”) as well as on its Board of Directors. Kara was named as “Paralegal of the Year” by RVPA in 2011 and as “Unsung Legal Hero” by Virginia Lawyers Weekly in 2021.

Kara began her career in Law in 1994, starting out as a legal secretary for a small Firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, supporting a team of attorneys practicing insurance defense. She spent several years growing her role before she landed a Litigation position with a large, international law firm in Pittsburgh where she worked for nine years before relocating to Virginia in 2009. Kara continued doing defense work until a 2013 car accident altered the course of her life. In 2015, with a strong desire to help injured people like herself, she began working for Geoff McDonald and Associates. Over the past 7 years, Kara has grown from a Senior Paralegal into a Management role. Kara is proud to work for a company that so zealously fights for their clients and encourages both personal and professional growth.
